Alexandra Ninomiya Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 4, 2025.
Farmington Hills, MI - Alexandra B. Ninomiya went to be with the Lord on January 4th, 2025. "Sandy" as she was known to her friends and family, was born in Torun, Poland, on April 7, 1938. She met the love of her life, Jack Ninomiya at Wayne State University, where they both obtained their degrees. They were married in 1959, and started a family together shortly afterward. Sandy was fluent in English and Polish, and spoke some Latin, and Jack was fluent in Japanese and English, which made for some interesting linguistic gymnastics and some occasionally confused children. Jack had a long and successful career as an executive at Ford Motor Company, while Sandy stayed home to raise their three sons. Although somewhat notorious for her sweet tooth, which lasted well into her 80's, she was reknown for making her famous Chalka Bread. When freshly out of the oven, covered with a thin layer of butter, and paired with a cold glass of milk, the Polish Egg Bread could solve most everyone's problems. Sandy and Jack took their family on many adventures and they were fortunate to be able to visit many different destinations. Sandy was known for her quick wit and tremendous sense of humor. She was always touched by the kindness of others, and had a generous spirit. She always enjoyed a good laugh and her laughter will be missed by all who knew her. As a faithful servant, Sandy would want everyone to know that what we do in life, echoes in eternity.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents, Eva and Stanley Twarkowski, her sister, Barbara Lindquist, and her beloved husband Jack, who was lost on April 24, 2020. She is survived by their three sons, Mark (Lori) Ninomiya, Timothy Ninomiya, and Hon. Christopher (Mary) Ninomiya, her brother, Adam (Denise) Twarkowski, and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pursuant to Sandy's last wishes, a public funeral and memorial service will not be held. Any donations in Sandy's name may be made to the Felician Sisters of North America or the Wounded Warriors Project.

My youngest sister Sandy Born in April 1938 in Poland with my oldest sister Barbara 1932 and both parents spent her early life trying to survive the invasion by Hitler Sept. 1, 1939 being one years old and experiencing the bombings and destruction and seeing both of her parents taken from her and being imprisoned by the invading German Army was amazing she survived.
Then after WW 2 ended she was fortunate to reunite with the the whole family and as war immigrants come to Ellis Island without speaking english.
Graduated from Wayne State with a degree in Psychology and then got married to a fellow school mate.
She had three great kids all graduates of universities proud of all of them.
Being I was the youngest sibling born in Detroit I always leaned on my two older sisters gor advice.
Even to this day we spoke often I will miss my sisters sense of humor and knowledge RIP WITH THE LORD.
Love You Always Adam
