Alfred EBERLE Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post from Apr. 13 to Apr. 14, 2013.
EBERLE, Alfred (Al) Frank
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Alfred passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at home surrounded by his family after a seven month battle with lung cancer (mesothelioma). He is predeceased by his parents Christopher and Helen; brothers Roland and Stan; sister Louise Chekay; brothers-in-law Clem Herauf and Bill Simes. Alfred will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lynn of 53 years; daughter Debbie Giroux (fiancée Al Zaritzky); son Darren (Lisa); son Greg (Kathy); and daughter Brenda (David) Bjorndalen; grandchildren Nathan and Addison Giroux and Robyn Zaritzky, Whitney, Ashley, Jordan and Dustin Eberle, Dylan, Brandon and Christopher Eberle and Jay and Megan Randolph, Cael and Nash Bjorndalen; sisters Clem Marie (Walter Knoll), Beatrice Simes, Shirley (Jack) Bland; brothers Edwin (Joan) and Gordon (Lorraine); brother-in-law Ken Chekay and sister-in-law Rose. Alfred was born in Holdfast SK at his grandma Anheliger's home. He was raised with his seven siblings on a farm in the Lajord district. He attended St. Peters Colony School where he completed his grade ten by correspondence. At the young age of 15 he went out to work for several farmers as a hired hand. In the fall of 1950, he moved to Regina and worked for residential and commercial construction companies from a labourer to a superintendent. In 1971, he ventured into his own house building business called Al's Homes Ltd. From 1971 - 2008 he built close to 200 homes in Regina and surrounding areas. Alfred enjoyed being involved and participating in all his children and grandchildren's interests. As a parent he coached baseball and hockey as it related to his kids. He took a lot of pride and time in any project he took on. Alfred was a quiet and gentle soul and was a dedicated and loving husband and father who always put his family first. Alfred will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Wise words to live by from Alfred, "There is one thought I would like to pass on to the up-coming generation. Obtain the best education available to you as with our ever changing technology the learning process is ongoing. Whatever you choose to do throughout your life, be it education, your career, marriage, or parenting, never be afraid to give 100 percent of yourself. Always remember, it is not what you do but how well you do it...be happy." A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 2636-7th Avenue East on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Donations in memory of Alfred may be made to the Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4F - 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5 or Lung Association (Mesothelioma Research) of Saskatchewan, 1231 - 8 Street E, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5. Al, we will miss you. I remember John putting his jacket on and I knew he was going to listen the hockey game on the internet or to watch it in TV with you. I will miss the many cups of tea we had with you, your kind soft words, your smile, your knowledge of hockey, your friendship, you were like our father, our family. I'm glad that we gave you one last hug before we left on our trip to Panama and we talked to you via facetime last week from Panama. May the love of friends, family and God carry you, Lynn, and your whole family through your grief. John and I are in prayer for all of you and that the God of comfort be with you.
Love,
John and Blanca from Panama city
