Alfred Raubuch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2011.
Alfred Donald Raubuch went to be with the Lord and to reunite with the love of his life on July 19, 2011. He was born on November 15, 1931 in Winlock, WA to Otto and Mary Raubuch. He grew up in the Winlock area attending Evaline School and graduating from Winlock High School. He then served four years in the US Air Force with the Air and Sea Rescue unit serving during the Korean War.
In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jan Koski. Together they settled in Winlock and raised three children; Carrie, Keith and Kelly. He worked for Gootee Chevrolet for many years and eventually retired from Van Cleve Ford. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and served as an Honor Guard. He was also a member of the Eagles and the Moose. He joyfully served as a "Roady" for the Jerry Rhode's Band in which Jan sang and played steel guitar for over 50 years. It was during these times that they met many friends and created treasured memories.
Al was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing as often as he could. He especially loved helping to build the Raubuch Family Plunkin' Shed where many family memories were created and many first fish were caught by the youngest in the group. Many Raubuch children and grandchildren were blessed to have shared the special memories created along the bank of the Cowlitz River.
Al will also be remembered as a talented craftsman who had the ability to created anything you wanted out of a simple piece of wood. Many family members have been blessed with pieces of art created by this talented man and the love put into each piece will forever be treasured.
Al also enjoyed many trips to Reno with Jan and he was a dedicated Mariners fan (when they were winning.) He also became what many would consider a competitive Yahtzee player, he took the game seriously and was always up for a good challenge.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Otto Raubuch; wife, Jan; sisters, Leona, Tillie and Ella; brother, Vernon; and granddaughter, Tara. He is survived by his children, Carrie (Randy) Pennington, Winlock, WA, Keith (Diane) Raubuch, Chehalis, WA, and Kelly (Rob) Pierson, Rochester, WA; brother, Roger (Barb) Raubuch, Longview, WA; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rest and breathe easy
Grandpa,
you will always
be on our minds
and forever in our hearts.
