Banner, Alice Uihlein age 93, passed away peacefully in her apartment at Friendship Village in Bloomington, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dr. Edward A. Banner. She is survived and will be missed by her children Barbara Banner (fiance Tom Sitzer) of Rochester, MN, Susan Erickson (husband Neal) of Edina, MN, Dr. Edward Banner Jr. (wife Valerie) of Houston, TX, and Tom Banner (longtime girlfriend Jennifer Neary), of Aspen, CO; grandchildren Alec Cross (wife Laura), Kristy Sherman (husband Gary), Cari Erickson, Staci Richardson (husband Scott), Mike Erickson, Edward Banner lll, Katie Banner, Andy Banner, Jenny Banner, and Charlie Banner; great-grandchildren, Maryn and Katie Cross, Annie, Sam, Cross, and Cooper Sherman, Sofie, Jack, and James Richardson. Alice was born on October 4, 1919 in Milwaukee, WI. She attended Mt. Vernon Seminary in Washington DC and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She spent her childhood summers at her home in Elkart Lake, WI. She met Ed in Milwaukee, where he was a medical resident. They were married on June 28, 1941 and settled in Rochester, MN, where Ed was on staff at the Mayo Clinic. They raised their family in Rochester for 31 years, retiring to Sun City, Arizona. Following Ed's death, Alice returned to Minnesota. She loved to travel, especially to Honolulu HI, Scottsdale, AZ, and Vail, CO. In accordance with her wishes, no funeral services will be held. Instead, she wished all who knew her to watch a sunset, hug your children, read a good book, cuddle with your pet, or have a glass of wine. There will be a private burial in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If desired, memorials are suggested to The Salvation Army or the Children's Cancer Research Fund.
