Alice Mae Griffin Brinkley, 68, made her ascension to Glory at her home, Monday. Alice was born in Nash County to the late Oliver Bertis & Emma Mae Joyner Griffin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed. Mrs. Brinkley worked for Wake County Public Schools for many years. She enjoyed vacationing in the mountains, at the beach and at the cabin at the lake, spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, David Brinkley.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Friday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenmount Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Karen Brinkley (Bubba) of Zebulon, Olivia Cash (Michael) of Spring Hope, Buddy Wayne Patton (Alicia) of Raleigh & Terry Patton (Diane) of Knightdale; grandchildren, Jesse, DJ, Koty, Aimee, Dylan, Kylie Mae & Heather; great-grandchildren, Makala & Elena, siblings, Earl Griffin of Knightdale, Carl Ray Griffin of Louisburg, & Spooky Griffin (Betty Jean) of Knightdale.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St., Wendell & other times at Karen's home. www.stricklandfuneral.com
