CHEIFETZ, Alice (nee Weigensberg) After a very brief illness on Monday, November 16, 2009, in her eighty-third year. Devoted wife of the late Maurice L. Cheifetz. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Susan Avishai and Dr. Robert Bernstein of Toronto, Nathan Cheifetz and Sharna Cohen of Toronto. Cherished "Grandma" of Ben Avishai and Amy Thompson, Ellie Avishai and Brian Studniberg, Tamar Avishai; Arielle Cheifetz and Brad Meredith, Talia Cheifetz. Proud "G.G." of Sofia Thompson Avishai. Sister of the late May Gruman. Loving aunt and great-aunt. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, November 18 at 12 noon. Burial at the Shaare Zedek Congregation Section, Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Beaconsfield. Shiva at 5840 Marc-Chagall, #405, C.S.L., through Friday afternoon, continuing in Toronto Saturday evening through Monday evening at 169 Madison Ave., evening services at 8 p.m. Contributions in Alice's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
