Alicia Torres Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 18, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts and immeasurable love that we announce the passing of Alicia "Kiki" Torres, a beacon of light, strength, and unconditional love, who departed this world peacefully in her home, surrounded by her devoted family, on June 12, 2025.

Alicia was a woman of unmatched depth-smart, generous, hilarious, magnetic, and beloved by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was a survivor in every sense, who endured profound suffering with unwavering courage and grace, fighting for her life until the very last moment.

Born to Mike and Margaret Torres, Alicia was the heart of a large, close-knit family.

Alicia was the beloved wife of Stephen Esquer, her devoted partner in life and in love. Together, they built a family that was the center of her world. She was the proud and loving mother of Stephen Torres-Esquer (first born), Angelo Torres-Esquer (second born), and Secilia Soy (third born), and cherished mother-in-law to Sam Soy and Roberto Sanchez. Her role as grandmother to Yasmin Esquer, Yesenia Esquer, and Olivia Soy brought her immeasurable joy and pride.

She was a beloved sister to Carmen Torres, Mike Torres Jr., Marty Torres, and Christina Torres. She devoted over four decades of her life to public service, working at the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department, where she rose through the ranks to become Senior Office Manager. Her dedication, work ethic, and quiet leadership left an indelible mark on everyone she worked with.

Alicia's true life's work, however, was not found in any office. It was in the homes and hearts of the people she loved and healed. She was a safe harbor for all-taking in anyone in need, offering them strength, wisdom, and comfort, expecting nothing in return. She loved so deeply and so fiercely that no wrong could ever make her turn her back. Her compassion, empathy, loyalty, and selflessness were simply unmatched.

Even in her final years, as she faced serious health challenges, Alicia remained a warrior-supported every step of the way by her husband, Stephen Sr., her children, Stephen Jr. and Secilia, and her exceptional care team. She was surrounded by those who loved her fiercely, and when her time came, the entire family was by her side to say goodbye.

Alicia had a memory like no other-she knew the words to every song and sang them with gusto. She gave advice with honesty and love, never sugar-coating the truth, always pushing those around her to grow and believe in themselves. Her Catholic faith guided her throughout her life, and she remained faithful and prayerful until her final breath.

She was a champion. A hero. A fighter. Alicia Torres was the kind of woman whose absence leaves a silence impossible to fill, but whose legacy of love, resilience, and truth-telling will continue to shape the lives she touched for generations to come.

She is deeply loved. She is deeply missed. And she will never be forgotten.

A Rosary service will be held at St. Bernadette's Church 2544 Plymouth Rd., Stockton, CA on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 6:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at Cathedral of Annunciation, 400 W. I only recently learned of Alicia´s passing. Even though I only worked at the Sheriff´s Office briefly before moving on to another agency, I always remembered her as a kind and patient supervisor and one of my favorite people to work for. My thoughts go out to her family during this difficult time.

I love you Kiki. I wish I had spent more time with you. The times that we did share will always be cherished. You helped me in my darkest time, and I am forever grateful. You had my back since I was a baby, always advocating for me when I couldn't. I hope that you have found peace... until we meet again

To the Torres family ,
My deepest sympathy and condolences to your family. I read the listed obituary written by family. Everything stated is so true. That is exactly how I knew her. She was my go to person at the San Joaquin County Sheriff´s Office. Always willing to help with any issue or problem I was dealing with without judgement. She was my good friend. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in heaven.
