Alida Ramos Medina Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 12, 2018.
Our beautiful mother Alida Ramos Medina passed on to her Beloved God Saturday the 10th day of February 2018. It is commonly said at one's passing that they leave behind family, friends, hobbies and charitable work. In our mother's passing she leaves behind nothing but love and took the best parts of us with her.

Alida was born in Puerto Rico. She immigrated to New York city as a young adult, where she married Andres Medina and gave birth to her first born son Andres Jr. They eventually moved their family to Miami, Florida where Alida gave birth to daughter Myrna and son Richard.

In order to support her family, she worked for many years as a seamstress at Muriel Sportswear. In 1974 she decided to attend college full time and earned degrees in Fashion Design and Business Administration at Florida International University. With her success in education, Alida was hired to head the Bridal Department at Miami's flagship luxury department store, Jordan Marsh.

As the years progressed, her hard work, fashion sense, dedication to her customers and business skills earned her a promotion to Head of Store Management for the regional chain. Alida retired from Jordan Marsh in 1992 and returned to college to attend art school where she pursued her passion for artistic expression on canvas.

Alida is adored by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild for her wisdom, courage, beauty, successes and un-imitate-able culinary skills. Alida was a model of integrity, bravery and success for all women as were so many from The Greatest Generation.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 in the afternoon on Saturday February 17, 2018 at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens Little River, SC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane Bolivia, North Carolina 28422.
