Aline R. Saverino, 97 a resident of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016. Born on April 19, 1919 in London, Ontario, Canada the daughter of the late Frank Furanna and Lucille Furanna (Gaste). She was proceeded in death by her brothers Frank and Joseph Furanna. Aline is survived by her loving husband of nearly seventy years, Fedele "Phil"; her sons Victor Saverino (Fran Hemmen), Frank Saverino (Donna James), and her daughter Aline Lafferty (John). She was blessed by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. During her life Aline enjoyed bowling, golf, family card games, and most of all ballroom dancing with her husband as members of the Villagers Dance Club of Grosse Pointe. She was a member of the Grosse Pointe Women's Club, the Women's Altar Society of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, and The Women's Garden Club of Grosse Pointe. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, in Grosse Pointe Woods. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. She will lie in state Thursday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church 467 Fairford Road at Morningside, Grosse Pointe Woods from 11:30 am until mass at 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make donations to the Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S. Rochester Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307.
