Allen Bruce Mavity, 83, of Wadsworth, died January 22, 2025 at his residence.

Allen was born September 29, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN to Harry and Edythe {Umholtz} Mavity.

He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1965.

He married Amy Moon on November 23, 1962.

He worked at PPG Industries for 34 years, where he received numerous awards and developed patents working with fine chemicals. He developed fertilizers, antivirals, cosmetics and many other chemical processes. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Wadsworth since 1966. Allen had obtained his private pilot license and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and American Institute of Chemical Engineering. He was the first coach for the Wadsworth soccer association. He was a longtime coach for his son and grandson in many sports. Allen spent many years as a coach teaching sports to many children in the area.

Family was the most important thing to him, and he was known for never missing a game, concert or any event of his children or grandchildren.

Allen will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, his high school sweetheart; children Karen Lanson, David (Michelle) Mavity

; grandchildren Elaina (Patrick) Lanson, Logan (Sarah) Lanson, Grace Mavity

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; brother Donald Mavity; sister Doris Tonini.

Friends may call Monday February 3, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home- Seville Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be the following morning February 4, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sarah West officiating at First Christian Church Wadsworth, Ohio with an hour of visitation prior to service at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church 116 East Boyer Street, Wadsworth, Ohio or Marian's Closet at P.O. Box 841, Wadsworth, Ohio in Al's name.
