Allen G. Thomas, Jr., age 69, of Abington, formerly of Holbrook, died suddenly, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Boston Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Allen was born in Baltimore City, Maryland, to the late Allen G. and Kathryn M. (Evans) Thomas. Raised and educated in Hudson, Mass., he was a graduate of Hudson High School. Allen was also a graduate of Boston University and later earned a Master's degree in Organ Performance, also from Boston University. He lived in Abington for eleven years, previously in Holbrook for many years.

He was the well-known and well-loved music director at First Presbyterian Church in Quincy for over thirty years, where he made many lasting memories and friendships. Concurrently, he was a professor at Suffolk University for several years, where he also led multiple university choirs.

Allen loved teaching, and music was his life. Over the years, he provided private music lessons in piano, organ, and voice and was also the longtime music director for Holbrook Public Schools. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists.

He was an avid Boston sports fan and especially enjoyed fantasy football and baseball, watching football games, and listening to sports talk radio in his beloved Mini Cooper.

Most of all, Allen was devoted to his family, and he proudly supported all their many activities and accomplishments.

Devoted Dad of David Thomas and his wife Jenna of Holbrook, Kathryn Yunits and her husband Tony of Fla., Caitlin Shannon of Abington, James Shannon of Weymouth, Michael Shannon of N.C., Daniel Litchfield of Scituate, and Matthew Litchfield of Whitman.
