Allyn Dean Stockwell

June 2, 1948 - September 11, 2025

Allyn "Dean" Stockwell, 77, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by family after living courageously with Parkinson's Disease for 13 years.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on June 2, 1948, Dean grew up in Newark, Ohio, before moving to Wilmington, Delaware, where he attended high school. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Jacksonville University in 1970, followed by an MBA from Boston University-achievements that launched a distinguished career in both military and civilian life.

While in Delaware, Dean met Joanne Webb, the love of his life. Married for 53 years, they shared a lifetime of adventure, moving across the country and overseas during his military service. Together they raised two sons and built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Dean proudly served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot, a role that reflected his deep devotion to duty, honor, and country. After his service, he brought the same integrity and leadership to his civilian career as an executive with Industrial Power Sales in Raleigh, NC.

A man of many talents, Dean was an avid tinkerer and lifelong DIYer, happiest when building, fixing, or creating with his hands. He was also a passionate sports enthusiast, having played college basketball and later cheering on NC State soccer and football, where he especially enjoyed Saturday tailgates with family and friends.

Above all, Dean's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne; his sons, Adam (Lani) and Stephen (Lynn); and his four treasured granddaughters, Ellie, Audrey, Madison, and Sloane. He also leaves behind his brothers, Steve and David, and their families, along with a large and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Scotty Connolly and Stephen Stockwell.

To his family, Dean was the greatest of heroes. His love, strength, and quiet guidance shaped their lives, and his legacy will endure in the lessons he taught, the sacrifices he made, and the unwavering love he gave.

Dean will be remembered as thoughtful, intelligent, kindhearted, and generous-a quiet professional who led by example with humility and strength. Fiercely loyal, he was a steady presence, always offering encouragement, support, and the best hugs. His wry smile and quick wit were unmistakable, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Dean's memorial service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1500 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. A reception will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse at The Courtyards of Andrew's Chapel, 1006 Havenwood Lane, Durham, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in Dean's name.

We are lost in sorrow over Dean´s passing. We have known for some time about his condition, but true to form, he was a fighter, and no doubt the battle continued to the end. As difficult as it may be, there is no doubt that Dean is in a better place. Our prayers and thoughts are with you, Joanne, and your family.

Internal Rest Grant Unto Him O Lord, and let Perpetual Life shine upon him forever.

Rest in Peace, cousin,
Jim and Pat Farley

I didn't know Mr. Stockwell well: just met him at Stephen's wedding, but he made an impression by raising such a considerate and thoughtful son.
