ALVIN DOWNS Obituary
ALVIN D. DOWNS
He graduated from Woodsboro High School in 1955 and worked at Alcoa as a Millwright for 27 years. Alvin also was involved in several community projects including Habitat for Humanity, and donated his time and skills to the construction of the Grace Community Church in Six-Mile. He was also a member of Grace Community Church.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jean Downs; his daughter, Dorothy (Jeff) Kallmayer of Champaign, Ill.; sons, Doyle O. Downs, Darren C. (Melissa) Downs, and Jeffrey E. (Veronica Ramirez) Downs, all of Port Lavaca; brothers, John R. Downs of San Antonio and Orville (Margaret) Downs of Bayside; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and Arturo Perez and Isabel Flores who were very dear to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret; and their son, Alvin Jr.
Visitation was held at Grace Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 7, 2011, at Grace Funeral Chapel with Brother Billy Faltesek officiating. Burial will follow at Sinton Cemetery in Sinton.
Pallbearers are Albert Downs, Billy Nolan, Tony Nolan, Dwayne Nolan, Juan Perez, and David Kusak.
Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Boyd and John Hobizal.
Donations in Alvin's name may be made to Grace Community Church.
Grace Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.

We are so sorry we missed the funeral. I haven't seen Alvin in years but still considered him a friend.

Alvin and I attended/graduated from Woodsboro High School.

Alvin worked for my dad, Claude Ledford, who thought the world of him for years. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My sympathies to his family.
