Alvin Kendrick Robinson

Gastonia Alvin Kendrick Robinson, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Gastonia on December 18, 1926 and is the son of the late Amos Kelly and Maggie Mae Kendrick Robinson and was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Frank and Ethel Lineberger. Alvin grew up on the family farm on Union Road and as a young man would sell peaches door to door from the family peach farm. He was a graduate of Gastonia High School and was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and served as a Military Policeman. He retired as a Postman with the United States Postal Service. Alvin was a faithful member of First Wesleyan Church of Gastonia. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother and will truly be missed by so many. Alvin is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Amy Robinson Coleman (William, Sr.), Miriam Robinson Purser (Mackie); 4 grandchildren, William Coleman, Jr.(Loretta), Christopher Coleman, Joshua Purser (Krissy), Emily Purser Brock (Justin); 10 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service is at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Hollywood Cemetery with Rev. Tim Smith officiating with Military Honors by the North Carolina National Guard and the Gaston Honor Guard. The family will receive friends following the Graveside Service at Hollywood Cemetery. Due to the Covid Pandemic, Masks and Social distancing will be required. Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Maggie Mae Kendrick Robinson; Frank and Ethel Lineberger; wife of 66 years, Orr Neal Lynn Robinson; siblings, Annie Mae Robinson, Howard Robinson, Marvin Robinson, Quintin Robinson, Ethel Robinson, Lloyd Robinson, Ernest Robinson; granddaughter, Susan Elisabeth Coleman French.
