AMY NICHOLS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11, 2012.
Amy Elizabeth Nichols, 37, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. Amy was born July 15, 1975 in Kansas City, KS, to Lester and Katherine (Gilbertson) Nichols. Amy leaves behind her parents, Lester and Katherine Nichols of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Lauren Nicole Manning of Kansas City, MO; sister, Dana Nichols Shafar, and brother-in-law, Craig Shafar, of Kansas City, MO; sister, Kara Nichols Dunn, and brother-in-law, David Dunn, of Kansas City, MO; aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces; nephews; best friend from childhood, Justin Taylor of Lake Ozark, MO; many friends and Lauren's father, Philip Manning of Kansas City, MO. Amy grew up in the Northland and graduated from Park Hill High School, class of 1993. She attended Maple Woods Community College and has worked for many years in child care. Amy loved her daughter, family and friends and will be missed by so many. Like many of us, Amy had her struggles; she was overcome by the complications and hardships of this world. Amy is at peace now, looking over her precious daughter, Lauren, knowing she is in the loving care of grandparents, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 'The ultimate lesson all of us has to learn is unconditional love, which include not only others, but ourselves as well' Elizabeth Kubler Ross. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Amy's life from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 with the service starting at 2 p.m. at the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Interment will follow the services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission, Synergy Services, or a charity of your choice. Amy has been on my mind lately. She was so fun loving, funny, sweet, beautiful, her habit of twisting her hair when conversing. She is missed these years later. Her spirit lives on in her daughter.

I was unable to make to Amy's services, but I know she was comforted by the presence of many of her close friends and family. Although I was not there, I thought about all of the fond memories we shared together in high school...and all of them included her pretty smile. She will never be forgotten.

Dear Nichols family. I have never met any of you but I want you to know that I am praying for all of you. I was on I-29 at the time of the accident and passed by seconds afterward. I prayed to God that he would take her in his arms and hold her tight. I have been praying for all of you and will keep you in my prayers.

My dear friend Amy,

Losing you has reiterated that all of us should say "I love you" to the ones we love.

Along with saying "I love you", losing you has also made me realize the importance of telling our loved ones Why we love them. Telling them how special they are to us and dear to our heart.

With all my love my old friend. May God Bless you Amy.

Your smile was as beautiful as your soul. You we be loved and missed by many. When I see a ray of sun shooting through the clouds, I will look up and think of you.
