Ana DRAZENOVIC Obituary
1923 - 2017
With saddened hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother on January 20, 2017 at the age of a spry and youthful 93 years. Ana was born in Novaki, Croatia, and immigrated to Canada in 1957. She settled in Calgary and made it her home for 57 years. Ana is survived by her children Irene (Randy) and Nick (Ammber), granddaughter Alexandra, brother Alojz (Dragica), and sister Marija. She lived a full, remarkable life and her absence will be felt by family, friends, and all those she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Service held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Parish, 835 Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, Alberta, on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.ca. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca. As I write this I am thinking of the wonderful taste of her apple strudel and the warmth I always felt from her generosity and hospitality. I smile when I think of her wry grins, her sense of humour and her happiness when she could yell "Bingo!". "Mrs. D" was my second mother during my early teens and I loved her very much. My condolences and prayers to both of you - Irene and Nick - and of course to your families.

Ana was a wonderful neighbour to me for 40+ years. She was an independent, self reliant, strong minded woman and a great inspiration to me. She baked and gardened and looked after her house and yard diligently well into her 90's. I will miss our sidewalk and back yard visits and my deepest sympathy goes out to Irene, Randy and Alex and your extended family.
