Ana Judy Meyer (née Alvarez Simoni), 73, passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2025 in Frisco, Texas surrounded by her three children.
Born on April 19th, 1952 in Arequipa, Peru, Ana carried with her the rich heritage and spirit of her birthplace throughout her life. She was an exchange student during high school, graduating from East Syracuse-Minoa Central High School in 1970. At university in Lima, she earned a bachelor degree in Tourism in 1977, a study that showed her natural understanding and appreciation for culture and the spirit of travel.
Ana moved to the United States, lived in the Chicago area, and bought her own home at a young age in Mokena. She worked in law offices, as a travel agent running the Great Escape travel agency, at the airlines as a flight attendant doing regularly scheduled flights and many CRAF charters, and as a homemaker. Her strong Peruvian family, heavily influenced by Italian and Spanish roots, faith, and education, laid the foundation for a life marked by resilience, determination, and strength. She ultimately settled in
Aubrey, Texas.
Ana's larger than life personality shone brightest when she was spending time with her children. She regularly volunteered for her children's youth sport programs, among them the New Lenox Mustangs and St. Jude New Lenox Trojans. She enjoyed tending to her garden on quiet afternoons, frequently found herself sewing, watching her favorite show, Star Trek, and listening to her favorite Oldies songs. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she went all out with lights and decorations. Her impressive Christmas tree was rivaled only by the largest department stores downtown. She enjoyed life on the lake and boating as much as she loved a night out at the Casino, especially with her mother and sister. However, her favorite way to spend time with her family was on vacations to the beach, on luxury cruises, and visiting national parks like The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Glacier on long extended road trips across the country.
Most recently she truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Orion is her first grandson and she took pride in being involved in his upbringing. Max, her second grandson, was her absolute joy when he came into this world.
Ana was a devoted Roman Catholic whose faith guided her through life's joys and challenges. She became a member of St. Martin de Porres after she moved to Texas. Ana dedicated a tremendous amount of time in prayer for her children and grandchildren.
She will be eternally remembered by her children Paul and wife Kelli Meyer, Ann Meyer, and Margaret Meyer, grandsons Orion and Max, sisters Luci Alvarez and Patricia and husband David Swenson, cousins Gina Salazar Simoni and Edith Simoni de Pereda, and by her extensive family in Peru and dear friends. Her memory is cherished by all who were fortunate to know her. Ana was preceded in death by her mother, Lucila Simoni Velez, and father, Atilio Alvarez Salinas.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Prosper, Texas at a date soon to be announced. Ana will then travel to Mokena, Illinois to be interred at the Historic St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Ana lived with strength and joy. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
