BOOKER Andrew "AD" Booker age 85 of Moss Point, MS died on Monday, June 1, 2009 in Moss Point. He was born on August 23, 1923 to the late Dennis Booker and Nayola Young Booker. Mr. Booker was a veteran of U.S. Navy. During his tenure in the Navy, AD received 8 Combat Ribbons, 13 Battle Stars and achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was a member of the Magnolia Elks Lodge of Moss Point, Ms where he held many offices: state, district and national; American Legion Post #106 Jackson, MS and a member of the Jackson County branch of NAACP. He was employed at Ingalls Ship Building and the International Paper Company where he worked for 41 years as a chemical preparation operator. Mr. Booker was a faithful and dedicated, member of the First Missionary Baptist Church; life member of the VFW, Post #10103 Moss Point. A.D. was preceded in death by his parents, and an adopted son, Charles Brown. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Veronica Hudson Booker and his caregiver, Maggie Bardwell. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:00 am at the First Missionary Baptist Church, Moss Point, where friends may visit from 9am until service time. Burial will follow at First Baptist Cemetery, Moss Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 4600 Main Street, Moss Point. Robinson Friendly Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
