Andrew Dinsmore, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2024.
Andrew McDonald Dinsmore, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at his home in Catonsville, MD. He was born on March 30, 1940, in Washington, DC to Andrew McDonald and Josephine Connor Dinsmore.

Drew was among the first generation of computer scientists. Gifted in mathematics, he worked with NASA early in his career during the era when computers occupied entire rooms and punch cards served as the primary means of communication with machines. Later, he transitioned to managing the complexities of healthcare costs, a challenge that remains relevant today. His passion for STEM is reflected in his granddaughters, who share a similar interest.

He loved sailing, often recalling his time spent in Bay St. Louis with close college friends and family. Drew also enjoyed hunting, and when he was no longer able to shoot, he continued to join hunting trips to take photographs, another of his cherished pastimes.

He appreciated good food and was an enthusiastic cook, enjoying the art as much as dining at fine restaurants. Crab cakes and hamburgers were among his favorite dishes.

Drew had a deep love for dogs, and his beloved dog Sadie was by his side until the end. He loved his family and he was so very proud of his daughters and his granddaughters.

Drew was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne Klipfel Dinsmore, who passed away in 2011, and his daughter Christine Dinsmore, who passed away in 2018. He is survived by two daughters, Courtney Dinsmore and Nicole Fischer, as well as his son-in-law, Jeffrey Fischer, granddaughters, Kate and Elizabeth Fischer and nephews, Charles and Joseph Dinsmore. Funeral services will be private. Memorial Contributions may be made to GoldHeart Golden Retriever Rescue or another another animal rescue organization of your choice.
