Andrew Malinowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 31 to Feb. 8, 2024.
Andrew S. Malinowski, D.D.S., 85, died most unexpectedly Monday, 16 January 2023, shortly after arriving in Vero Beach, Florida. Dr. Malinowski was a resident of Sussex County, Delaware, where he worked full time at his periodontal practice at 1515 Savannah Road, Lewes, for 22 years, having also practiced as a periodontist in Wilmington for 25 years previous. Prior to that he had been a general dentist for 14 years, also in Wilmington, after serving as a Captain in the Air Force stateside, upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

He was Assistant Professor of Periodontics for Penn Dental School and Staff periodontist for A.I. DuPont Nemours Hospital, Christiana Care and St. Francis Hospital. He served as president of the Delaware State Dental Society, delegate to the American Dental Association, and president of the Delaware Academy of Medicine from 2004 to 2006. He was a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.

On his behalf the family wishes to honor the members of his staff who throughout the many years that he practiced so lovingly and steadfastly demonstrated their commitment to him, and the patients. It was their unfailing professionalism and many kindnesses that made possible the great pride he was able to take in his work. His debt to them is immeasurable.

Dr. Malinowski was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy. He is survived by one son, one grandson, and wife Patti Gawronski Kardon.

Andy saved my dental life. We were dental school classmates. During the NJ State Dental Clinical Exams for licensure my patient had to leave and attend to a sick child. Andy happened to be cleaning out his locker, overhead the conversation, and offered to see if there might be some acceptable tooth in his mouth. what a guy what a friend.
A minuet problem was accepted, which was then completed and I passed.
. Since then, I have called Andy every five or ten years to see if the filling was still in place which he assured me it was. That incident has kept us close these many years. so, one last time Andy thank you my friend.
