SARANAC -- Mr. Angelo C. "Charlie" Brienza, 67, passed away Oct. 4, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Brooklyn on April 6, 1941, the son of Michael and Mary (Rega) Brienza. He worked for SUNY at Stony Brook as a refrigeration mechanic and was a self-employed contractor under the name of Northern Refrigeration on Long Island and AC Brienza in the North Country. He also worked in the electrical union for Triangle Electrical Systems in Plattsburgh. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant son.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara (Erich) Brienza; his daughter, Sheri, and her husband, Thomas Wypyski of Ottawa; his son, Greg Brienza, and his wife, Linda of Morrisonville; his sister, Teri, and her husband, Michael Moore of Peru; his brother, Michael Brienza of Richmond, Va.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. His beloved grandchildren are Ryan and Alex Brienza and Casimir, Sophia and Annika Wypyski.
Beside being with his family, engaging in lively debates on any subject and all things mechanical, Angelo loved working in the fields and woods and was happiest on his tractor, tending his livestock and clearing brush and trails. Although a strong supporter of gun rights, he gave up hunting for the sport of target shooting many years ago and preferred just watching and admiring the wildlife. And although Angelo was not a member of any church, he strongly believed in creation (Genesis 1:1), that life begins at conception (Psalm 139:14-16) and that man should be a good steward of God's green earth (Genesis 2:15).
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Independence Cemetery in Saranac.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh.
Online condolences and memorial candles may be offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.

Our deepest sympathies go out the the Brienza family. There are no words to express the sorrow in our hearts. Love, Joan and Jerry
A note to Charlie from Jerry...
Good Bye old friend...knowing you were always close by was always a comfort to Joan and I, even when we didn't see each other every day. Your premature departure leaves an empty space in our lives which we can only try to fill with loving memories. I'm sorry we didn't get solve ALL the world's problems, but we gave it a heck of a try! Maybe we can work on that at a later date...You'll be greatly missed, Jerry

My thoughts and prayers are with Charlie's family at this very difficult time. Charlie was a very charismatic and sweet soul. He always went out of his way to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. His love for the Adirondack Mountains is what led him here, he followed his heart and lived every day to the fullest. My deepest sympathies go out to his loving wife Barbara and children Greg and Sheri and their families. We will all miss you "Ang..." with loving thoughts Cyndie and family

I am so saddened to hear about Charlie. When I read his obituary, I couldn't help but smile, because I fondly remember his beautiful smile, and the bright sparkle in his eyes. His enthusiasm for life was contagious. He was truly a wonderful man and I am sure he will be missed by all. God bless you all, may peace and comfort fill your hearts.

I always enjoyed visiting with Charlie when he came to get round bales for his beef. Such a friendly and understanding gentleman. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to all of Charlie's family.
