Old Tappan - PONTE, Angelo J. of Old Tappan passed away on December 12, 2018. Beloved husband of Rosalie (nee Masucci) Ponte. Devoted father of Vincent & his wife Melanie and Alphonse. Loving grandpa of Vincent, Rosalie Mendia & her husband Jonathan, and Angelo. Cherished great grandfather of Santiago Mendia, Graziella Mendia, Giorgino Ponte and Elliana Mendia. Dear brother of Joseph and Anthony Ponte and the late Frank Ponte, Mary Corino, Josephine Feraudo, & Domenica Sebastiano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Angelo was born in 1925 in Brooklyn, NY and moved with his family to Alpine, NJ where he resided for the past 40 years. Despite humble beginnings, Angelo, became a successful entrepreneur. Together with his three brothers, Angelo started a family business. He was a true visionary with foresight to transform lower Manhattan and was instrumental in creating what is now TriBeCa. Beyond his success as a businessman and devoted family man, he is also celebrated for being a humanitarian and known for charitable work throughout New York City. His family and friends will always remember him for his extreme generosity. He was a selfless man who put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by many and his legacy will be everlasting.
