Rutledge - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Overman Payne, who peacefully departed this life on April 11, 2025, at 82 years of age at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. Born on January 26, 1943, in Milledgeville, GA to William Peyton Overman, Jr. and Mildred Louise "Pete" Forehand Overman.

Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband, Richard O. Payne and her children, Jen Parker Hammonds (Patrick), Brandi Parker Mannah and stepson, Chris Payne. Grandchildren are Justin Parker Hammonds, Jeremy Peyton Hammonds and Cam Payne. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William "Bill" P. Overman, III (Connie), and Robert "Bobby" Overman, (Judy).

Mrs. Payne devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. W.C. Branan and retired from the University of Georgia after 16 years. She spent the last 3 years at The Madison Assisted Living where she enjoyed her Madison Mafia friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15 from 2-4 pm at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment will take place later at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.
