Ann Sanborn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 2 to Sep. 4, 2022.
Ann Elaine Sanborn, 88, of East Hanover, NJ, passed away at her long-term care facility on Tuesday August 30, 2022.

Ann was born in Augusta, Maine to Charles and Carolyn Sullivan and raised in Lexington, Massachusetts. She married Lee W. Sanborn in 1954. Ann and Lee were married for 62 years before Lee's passing in March of 2017. Ann's brother, Robert Sullivan predeceased her. She is survived by her two children Lee-Ann Sanborn of Minnetonka, MN and Mark Sanborn of Summit, NJ. Additional survivors include son in-law Raymond Conte and daughter in-law Kristin Sanborn as well as four grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary, Cecelia and Griffith.

Ann graduated from Lexington High School in Massachusetts and then went on to graduate from The Katherine Gibbs School of Boston. Ann started her working career at the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston. Soon thereafter, she married Lee Sanborn upon his return from serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Ann and Lee started their life and family in Brighton, MA. The family had a number of stops from Illinois to New Jersey to Massachusetts and finally to Cedar Hill, TX where they spent 30 years. Lee's retirement brought the couple to St. Simons, GA. After Lee's passing, Ann moved to be closer to her family in Northern, NJ.

Ann was an avid naturalist. She took great joy explaining the natural world to her grandchildren. She also had fond memories of her time playing bridge in the Southwest Women's Club in Cedar Hill, TX as well as hosting various Bridge groups in her home. Ann was a "New Englander" at heart. Family vacations on Nantucket and Cape Cod were her favorite things.

Ann and Lee will be interred together at the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. As Ann's father "Charley" was a disabled veteran from World War I, she would have loved for contributions in lieu of flowers to be sent to:

Ann was my friend for many years when she lived in Cedar Hill, TX. The pictures I posted were of the farewell party for Ann and Lee when they moved to Georgia in 2013.
