Anne "Annie" Ream Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 7, 2025.
Anne Steakley Ream, known to all as Annie, passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 28 in Houston, Texas. Born on October 10, 1996, in Greenwich, CT, she brought the world a once-in-a-lifetime kind of light.

Annie had an unforgettable presence. Radiant and magnetic, with a sparkling smile and an easygoing charm, she drew people in without trying. To know Annie was to love her, and to be loved by her was to feel like the luckiest person in the world. She was sunshine in human form: warm, hilarious, generous, and endlessly caring.

A proud graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, Class of 2015, Annie was a founding member of the Family Place Club and the unanimously elected CEO of PGGT-a tight-knit circle of her closest friends whose group chat served as a lifelong support system. Both roles reflected her deep love for community, her compassion, and her signature wit that brought people together. She later earned a bachelor's degree in business and marketing from the University of Mississippi, where she was a Chi Omega and had a gift for turning strangers into lifelong friends.

Family meant everything to Annie. She idolized her siblings and wore the title of "little sister" with pride, often introducing herself first and foremost as Sarah and PJ's sister. Her love and admiration for her dad ran deep, and the bond she shared with her momma was unbreakable. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite days of the year, always spent surrounded by the immediate and extended family that she adored. Her family was her foundation, shaping the way she moved through life with her heart wide open.

Everyone felt at home around Annie. She welcomed people into her life without hesitation and made sure they knew they belonged. She had a gift for remembering the little things like birthdays, anniversaries, or just tough days, and was often the first to send flowers, write a handwritten note, or send a long text reminding her people just how loved they were. She was the kind of friend you could do absolutely nothing with, and somehow it felt like everything.

Her laughter was goofy, unapologetic, and impossible to resist. Her playfulness lit up every room, her beauty turned heads, and her loyalty anchored friendships. Annie made people feel not just seen, but truly known. It is rare to meet someone so deeply cherished by so many, and even rarer to meet someone who gave that love back tenfold.

The world will feel Annie's absence deeply. She touched countless lives with her smile, her humor, and her unwavering faith in the people she loved. And while the hole she leaves behind is enormous, Annie would want her people to come together and hold tight to the closeness she treasured most. She loved fiercely, and she'd want that love to carry on.

Annie is survived by her parents Betsy Wideman Ream and Phil Ream, brother PJ and sister Sarah, grandparents Dr. Ronald and Bettye Wideman, six aunts and uncles, sixteen cousins, and a widespread circle of friends who considered her family.

A celebration of Annie's life will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Cities Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Annie's honor to Living Amends, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to vetted sober living facilities throughout Central Texas.

We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Anne´s family. We were in Greenwich, Connecticut when Anne was born and later moved to Houston in 2017. Reading her obituary, we realized how close we were to our paths crossing, but yet we missed-out experiencing her radiant warmth. It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to someone so young, taken from this world far too soon.

Eternal rest grant unto Anne Steakley Ream, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

God bless Ann and G
