Anne Marie Broome, age 72, of Fairfield, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, November 2, 2004, in the Laurel Creek Health Center of Paradise Valley Estates in Fairfield, CA.
Born in Oslo, Norway, on May 13, 1932, Anne was raised there and went to college in London, England. A resident in Norway, Anne socialized with a lot of American Embassy personnel, and while visiting some of these friends at Keesler AFB, she met the love of her life. Anne married Lt. Col. William G. Broome, USAF, on May 24, 1969, and as he was a golfer, Anne took up golf as well and they became fierce competitors to many a golfer along the coast. A seamstress, Anne was well known for her excellent dress attire, and many on the Back Bay may remember the white row boat with an outboard and the yellow canopy with white tassels hanging off it. An excellent bridge player, her bridge parties were the talk of the Back Bay and they remained residents of the Gulf Coast for many years prior to relocating to Oslo, Norway. Missing the states, both Anne and her husband subsequently returned to the United States and had been residents of the Paradise Valley Estates Retirement Community in Fairfield, CA since 1998, right on the golf course, naturally.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William G. Broome, who also passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 1, 2004, in the Laurel Creek Health Center of Paradise Valley Estates in Fairfield, CA.
She will be buried along with him in the graveside adjacent to his first wife, Ann, in the Biloxi National Cemetery. Other surviving family members include two sons, Stein H. Hoie, of Oslo, Norway and Tor H. Hoie of Surrey, England; two step-sons, Commander William H. Broome, USN, Retired, of Louisville, KY and Michael C. Broome of Germantown, TN; a step-daughter, Ann B. Moore of Gainesville, FL; eight grand-children and five great grand children. Anne and her husband, Bill, will be sadly missed.
Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by the Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi. Burial services will be held concurrently with those of her husband, William, in the Biloxi National Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2004.

Dear Anne,
My everlasting thanks to you for being such a loving wife and wonderful companion to my dear father for over thirty years. Your cheerful personality was a tremendous source of delight for him thoughout his life. You two shared a storybook love and I will miss you both. May the Good Lord give you his blessings as you rest in peace in the Gulf Coast city where you met and married and lived for so many fun-filled years.
All my love,
Bill
