Anthony at Indian Cave Park Fall 2007
Gloria Smith
November 13, 2008
Anthony, we took a memorial ride to Indian Cave Park this fall in your honor exactly a year after you went with us on that same ride. It was bitter-sweet to reflect on past good times while grieving the void we now have in our lives without your being with us. (I'm attaching the photo I took of Anthony when he went with us last year for anybody who may wish to see it).
We also had lunch in your memory at Famous Daves after moving your personal belongings from your house to a storage unit. We made a toast to you in heaven and all agreed you WILL be receiving a thrashing when we get up there!
It is pretty cool how God has calmed the concerns of some of your loved ones by allowing a personal connection to occur between you and them, with your BIG smile & baseball cap and consoling words of reassurance.
You will never be forgotten and will be remembered fondly forever.

Kevin, Mel & Mollie,
We love you dearly. I wish I had words for you that could take away even a little of your pain. You have an Anthony-sized hole in your heart that won't ever be filled. But, God will comfort you and help you through your loss. He will never leave you or forsake you. I do hope that you find comfort in knowing your Heavenly Father loves you and so do we. We are praying for you.

I wanted to express my deepest sympathies to you, in your time of need. I lost my sister four years ago unexpectedly in death and what helped me to ease the pain is the hope that the Bible holds out for our loved ones. In fact, Jesus, at John 5:28-29 spoke of a resurrection of our loved ones. What a wonderful time that will be to see our loved ones happy and healthy once more. I hope this scripture will be able to comfort you as it has me.

Kevin and Family,
I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Although I only new Anthony for a couple years while we were on the fire department together, I felt I could call him my friend. He had an infectious personality that brightened the room whenever he walked in, he had an incredible sense of humor and was capable of making people laugh with ease. He was a very warm person, very easy to talk to. My condolences to you Kevin and to your family, to all of those whose lives he touched, and to the community, both those that knew him, and those that weren't fortunate enough to have known such a remarkable young man.

Kevin, Melanie, and Mollie,
Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. The funeral service was very special, just as was the young man who was honored. It would have made him laugh out loud with all the stories that were told about him yesterday. And after the funeral my husband and I parked in Hickman as the procession went by I looked up to the sky every time one of those loud trucks went by and I said, " That one was for you Anthony!" He will be sorely missed, and if there is anything we can do please let us know.

Anothony was such an amazing kid. He had such a big heart and always cared about others. He was always making me laugh with his fun personality. I will never forget our fun Halsey trips. I have so many great memories of Anthony. He was always cheering me up when i was upset. I really miss him but i know he is flying with the eagles now. May god be with your family through this hard time.

WOW!!! Anthonys funeral was amazing! such a loving tribute to a sweet boy, I really enjoyed the pictures you shared, Mel, you and Kev did a great job providing a sweet childhood for your kids, you are an incredible example of a proverbs 31 wife and mom!! im so proud of you, your faith in the Lord is very evident to all who know you, and it was obvious Anthony knew it too! you "trained him up in the way he should go"... and now he is there!! I will miss seeing Anthony for hair cuts, our long conversations afterwards, the countless rides to work in a snow storm he gave me, I was too chicken to drive, but not Anthony!! I just held on praying we would get there safe with out getting stuck!! Thank you for sharing him with me, encouraging him to call me Aunt Julie, which he did when he wanted a free haircut!!Anthony is loved by soooo many people, and that, you should be proud of! I am here for you, call for anything.. love you all. Julie

Kevin, Melanie and Mollie,
I am very sorry for you lose of Anthony. I will have very good memories of him coming into Subway and giving him a free meal or his favorite cookies. He would do anything for us ladies at Subway if we needed the help especially moving the snow in the winter months when I got stuck in the parking lot. I will truly miss him. Like Luke and B.J. said "We have another Angel in the skies watching over us and sister Sara has a big brother to play with her." Till we meet again Anthony WE WILL MISS YOU TRUELY AND YOU ARE LOVED!!!

Dear Buis Family,
WOW, I very sorry to hear about Anthony. We never know where life will take us or what tomorrow will bring, when something with this magnitude happens it really makes life feel so real.
When Anthony joined the Hickman Rural Fire Department I was very excited. There are not many men of his age that had a head on there shoulders like he did. When I needed something on a call he got, when there was job that need to be done, Anthony was still there, not for glory, fame, or the attention. Anthony always took pride in what he was doing around the department. Kevin, Melanie as Anthony’s Parents you should be very PROUD, He was a man of many talents. I will never forget the 90lbs sup then man in the White Dodge and the Bud Light belt buckle. I will miss seeing him when I come back to town. Sorry I can’t make it to the service. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this hard time in your life. Be strong and take care.

Kevin,Melanie & Mollie,
We can't even begin to describe how deeply sorry we are with your loss of Anthony. As I read through the entries it doesn't surprise me in the least of how many people's lives that Anthony touched by his love and compassion for others. That was indeed Anthony. He was ALWAYS willing to help and always with that little curl of the lip smile on his face. We always enjoyed having him around our house and have been so grateful that he and Cory were such close friends for som any years. They had the true description of friendship, ALWAYS there for each other, ALWAYS had each others back and ALWAYS accepted each other for who they were. What a great gift! If I had just one word to describe Anthony it would be "genuine", there was absolutley nothing fake or put-on about him. I always admired and enjoyed that about Anthony. You raised a fine man who understood what was important in life. He truly loved his family and friends and was so proud of his little sister. We had quite a few good talks on our front step or at the fire station and we also had a lot of good laughs(more stories and memories to share later).
I was proud to call Anthony one of my son's best friends, I was proud to call him a brother firefighter and I was proud to call him a friend and a second son. His physical presence in our lives will be greatly missed, but I know that his fun-loving, compassionate spirit will be with us always. And I'm sure plenty of tire burn out marks on the streets will be with us for quite some time! Remembering his lip curling smile, his squeeky voice when he got excited and his ever present fun-loving ways will continue to bring a smile to our faces. So Anthony will live on in us and through us by touching so many our lives with his "genuiness". What a gift and blessing from God. Thank you Kevin, Melanie and Mollie for sharing Anthony with us. We will truly miss him in our lives, but we will hold tight to the memories. May God hold all of you close in his arms and with the love and support of family and friends you will get through this. We are here for you at any time just call.

Kevin, Melanie and Mollie,
I can not even begin to express the sorrow I feel with the loss of Anthony or the "A Man" as I always called him. He and Cory started hanging out with each other in the 2nd grade and became fast and forever devoted friends. Mary and I always enjoyed having Anthony around our house as he always brought fun and laughter. And after the boys grew up and moved away he would still drive by the house, rev his motor in his pickup and crane his neck to look in our kitchen windows to see if we were at home. Anthony and I had many good talks about alot of different things sitting on our front step or at the fire station. Mary and I have always said that Anthony was such a true friend of Cory's. He was ALWAYS there when you needed a hand and we knew that you could always depend on "good ol' Anthony" cause he always came through. I will always remember that infectious smile and squeeky voice when he got excited. He indeed has touched so many lives through his compassion and pure concern for others. What a great servant of the Lord! To describe Anthony in one word would be "genuine", there was nothing fake or put-on about him and that's one of the things that I really enjoyed about him. You raised a very fine man, thank you for sharing him with the Hart family for so many years! I was proud to call him one of my son's best friends, I was proud to call him a fellow firefighter(and a very good one), but most of all I was to call him a friend and a second son. We have many memories and stories that we will share later. With the loving arms of God and the love and support of so many family and friends we will help you to get through this. We will be there for you anytime day or night just call.

Wagon Train Avenue won't be the same without Anthony. We'll miss hearing him go by, helping out with so many things and best of all his friendly wave and smile. Evan loved hanging out with him and "messing" with anything mechanical. Like everyone else who knew and loved Anthony, we have some pretty funny memories...ones that we'll cherish and share.
Although we grieve with and for you, we know he's one of God's helpers now and look forward to when we'll see him again.
May God carry you during the roughest times and hold you tightly always. Hold strong to your faith, your friends and your family. God is faithful to those who love Him even when this world doesn't make any sense.
We love and are praying for your entire family.

Dear Kevin, Melanie and Mollie,
Laurie, me and the kids are very shocked and saddened to hear about Anthony's passing. A situation like you've encountered is difficult to accept, and even more difficult to try to explain or find answers. We all agree that God is very good and knows all things, but it doesn't make a family loss like this any easier. We grieve from afar here in San Diego, wishing we could be there to give a hug, a fews words, and prayer with you. We are keeping you in our constant thoughts and prayers, and will give you a ring on the phone in a few days.
Hurting with you,
Knowing that He is in control,

Anthony is a one of a kind of person. He was able to go from a heating and air conditioning specialist to a firefighter in two seconds. That was Anthony just like a Superman. He will always be a Superman to me. I have only known Anthony for a few years but I feel blessed that I was able to work with him on so many things in his life. He was the little brother that I never had. He will be missed everyday because of his support and love for so many people! I am sure that God is asked him to put his fire hose down and watch over all of his brothers as they serve their various fire departments. Anthony will be greatly missed until we can all see him again. I know that Anthony will be at God’s side being the brave solider that he was raised to be. Kevin, God Bless you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you everyday.

It seems so long ago that our boys were waist high and running around on Wagontrain Ave together. Those were the good times. If I remember right there were 46 kids on our street at the time. What fun!!
Anthony grew up to be such a beautiful young man inside and outside. I am sure you are very proud of the man he became!
I will always remember his bright eyes and contagious smile.Whenever he has seen me since then he has always honked and waived and smiled as he went by...always on the move!
We will all miss Anthony and cherish our memories of him and your family on Wagontrain Ave!!!
May God Bless you and keep you in his loving care, as he is the only one who can truly give you peace to get you through this trying time.
Remember to love and cherish each other too!

Teri and I are absolutely devastated for your family. Words can not be said that can help the pain you are feeling. The only words of wisdom I can pass along came from Dr. Kroll. During a dark time in his life, he was asked where God is during tragedy. His answer: God is in the same place He was the day his son died. Anthony is now sitting at the feet of Jesus, every tear wiped away, every hurt healed. It won't be long until we're with him again. We love you guys so much! Marv and Teri
