I met Tony back about ten years ago. He was in charge of all the taxi permits. My first impression was that this guy is no joke. Intimidating. Looked like maybe special forces, secret service, somebody undercover at ILM waiting to apprehend some bad guys just by looking them in the eye. After speaking to him about my permit and a few issues I was having he really helped me out. I cannot thank him enough. He was patient, kind, understanding, and fair. There was always some drama with the taxi drivers and anytime Tony had to get involved it was resolved without question. No one challenged his authority or fairness. I had several more encounters with him as we had inspections regularly. Always wished he had more time to conversate. He just had that face of a person who had seen alot. He looked like he could have been in action movies. Definitely the person everyone would have ran to if there were ever some emergency. Not surprised to learn he was a Marine and NYPD. I regret not being able to attend the funeral to pay my respect. Truly an honor having known you Tony. Your legend lives on.

I had the privilege of working with Tony in the 94 precinct and he was truly one of a kind. He possessed a strength, humility, and dignity that is seldom seen. When I suffered a tragic death in my family, Tony along with my brother and sister officers in the 94 pct, was there to support me. Rest in Peace, "T.D."

I will miss the mornings at the Delta ticket counter when Tony would come by to give Beth a goodbye kiss or vice versa. Always wishing each other a good day. Steven Valverde and I would say, "at least we have Tony here to save us in case of any workplace incidents." May Tony continue to watch over Beth and the kids. God bless them.

Sorry for your loss. I worked for Loomis a few years back and Tony would escort me every 2 weeks to the upstairs ATM machine. Being a fellow New Yorker we would talk about the good old days.I would always laugh for when filling the machine with money he would always say to me I'm not messing up your count by talking and I would always say to him no Tony I don't count the money I just take the old money out and put the pre-counted money in. I would say keep talking Tony as we laughed and we would continue talking. Rest in peace. You were a kind man and a hero.

Our nicest memory of Tony was when he was kind in helping get Julia's brother in to see her before she flew on her first long overseas trip. It meant a lot to us! The Walkers send their loving thoughts and prayers to the D'Erasmo family during this tough time. I know he will be missed.
