Anthony "Tony" SILVESTRI

It is with great sadness that his family announces the sudden passing of Anthony Silvestri on Monday, March 1st 2021, in his 84th year, at his residence at Stamford Estates. Beloved father of Klaudia Savona (Bruce Denis) and Tina Turner (Paul). Reunited with his wife Joy (2013), and granddaughter Julia Turner (2011). Super funny "grandpa Tony" to Kourtney, Dana (Steve), Melaney (Jervis) and Jaclyn. Survived by his sister Joanne Silvestri, sister-in-law Deb D'Orazio (Nick) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Erminio and Natalie Silvestri, and his sister Genevieve Peter (Lawrence). Anthony was born in Welland and worked in maintenance for the City of Welland, and as an electrician for the Niagara Region. He was an accomplished accordion player, and from a young age Anthony was entertaining people with his talent. In his teenage years, he and his friends would sit on the front porch of his house and play music for the neighbours. In the late fifties and sixties, he played at many weddings and dances with the Louis Biro Band. Anthony was also an avid hunter; he loved being in the great outdoors with nature. Every year he and his hunting buddies would go moose hunting up north "in the bush". A legendary ten-pin bowler, Anthony bowled not one but two perfect games and won many tournaments in Canada and the US. His greatest bowling achievement was being selected to Team Ontario to represent the province, and winning the Canadian National Ten Pin Bowling Championship in Saskatchewan in the early 80s. Anyone who knew Anthony would say he was a real character. He loved to make people laugh and to tell stories of the old days. He will be remembered for his off-colour humour and his long animated jokes. His legacy will continue each Christmas, as someone will have to be the "Tony" and take the last gift to end the gift game. Special thanks for the great care and friendship at Stamford Estates, especially to Sean, Barrington, Wendy and Kim. Arrangements entrusted to H.L. Cudney Funeral Home in Welland. By Anthony's request, there will be no service and cremation has taken place. A private internment will take place at a future date.
