Archie B. Dixon

Archie B. Dixon, 77, of Lufkin, was born March 4, 1933 in Hemphill, Texas, the son of the late Molly (Lynn) and Earl Dixon. He passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 in a local hospital. Mr. Dixon was a retired forester from Champion Paper Mill. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His favorite pastime was fishing and hunting. Mr. Dixon was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Pamala and Roy Neal McClendon; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Tina Dixon and Jason and Michelle Dixon; sons, Archer Dixon and Noah Dixon; grandchildren, Dixie McClendon-Coker, Levi McClendon, Sara Dixon, Shelby Dixon, Casey Dixon, Matthew Dixon, Tess Dixon and Lindsey Dixon; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Truss; and a number of other family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Dixon; and 3 sisters. Pallbearers will be Noah Dixon, Roy Neal McClendon, Levi McClendon, Lee Coker, Kevin Shoffitt and Derrick Shoffitt. Services for Mr. Dixon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Maynard Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
