Arden Medlin

Milton Arden Medlin, 58 of Wilmington, NC, took his glorious journey home to Heaven on February 2, 2018. We will miss him greatly, but rejoice in knowing that Arden has taken his place amongst the saints in everlasting worship of the heavenly Father.
Arden was born May 25, 1959. Arden was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Lou Medlin. He is survived by his father, Kenneth A. Medlin (Marie), wife, Janet Lee Medlin, daughter, Savannah M. Edwards (Matt), son, Dustin A. Medlin (Briana), two stepchildren, Cassidy & Connor Stokley, two sisters, Cindy Clayter (Mike), April M. Rivenbark (Richard), two precious grandsons, Brayden and Hudson Edwards and many special uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and too many friends to count.
At the age of 52, Arden went back to college to complete his education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in History in 2013. Arden inherited the love of History from his father along with the practical skills of the trucking business.
Arden was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends. As his children were growing up, they could often be found having fun together at go-cart races, snow skiing, ball games or just listening and singing along with their Dad at the piano. As his children became adults and he was blessed with two grandsons, you would find him on the sidelines cheering them on at sporting events or giving his son, Dustin, pointers as he coached his high school ball team. You did not have to be around Arden very long to learn he was an avid Duke fan. If Duke was behind, he would go to the piano and start playing "Devil with the Blue Dress on" in hopes to encourage them to pick up their game. Since childhood, he was also a loyal Green Bay Packers fan through all their ups and downs.
From a young age, it became evident that God had blessed Arden with a rare musical gift. When Arden sat down at the piano, you could feel the music come to life. He shared this gift throughout his lifetime in many different ways. Over the years, he played in many local bands in the local Wilmington area. Through his music, he has touched hundreds of lives by playing at family gatherings, weddings, funerals, parties and other venues. Arden never turned down an invitation to use his gifts to bless others. Arden played in many churches and most often accompanied by his daughter, Savannah with her beautiful voice. For the last 6 years, Arden has been the pianist and music leader at the Acme Presbyterian Church.
In the last 18 months, as Arden fought the battle against cancer, his loving wife, Janet stood faithfully by his side. As a testimony to the Lord's grace and empowerment in Arden's life, he inspired others by his courage and unwavering faith that God was in control of his destiny. We will all miss him and look forward to when we are reunited in Heaven.
A Celebration of Arden's life will be held on Wednesday, February 7th, at the Acme Presbyterian Church in Riegelwood. Visitation will begin a 5pm with the service following at 6:30pm.
