12, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 2, 2016. Ariana is survived by her parents; San Miguel "Nelson" and Suzy Tejada, brother; Jonathan and grandparents; Lynn and Donna Warner and Andres and Marina Tejada.
Visitation will be held at Indian Creek Christian Church on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. with services immediately following.

I met sweet Ariana through ExactImpact at ExactTarget. When we became aware of her story we fell in love with this little fighter. Little did I know, over the next several years she would become an inspiration to my family as both my mother and father were diagnosed with cancer. Her determination, faith and strength led us through some very dark times with different treatments and diagnosis'. She was always such a light and her spirit was a blessing for us. She taught us so much about being a child of God, never giving up and always finding the good in what some considered bad. I've prayed more than I ever have and walked closer to God because of Ariana. I'm so grateful for her spirit and positivity. She truly embedded into my heart to always trust God.

My son, Tony Thomas, had Math and English class with Ariana. I remember sitting down at the dinner table and we were talking about how his first couple of weeks of school went. He said, "Mom there's this girl in my class who sleeps a lot during class". He was concerned. I explained to him that maybe something is wrong or she has trouble sleeping at night. He came home one day and told me that she has cancer. This made him sad and ever since that day we have followed Ariana's Journey. We always had hope that she would beat it. I loved seeing updates with pictures of her smiling and hanging out with her friends. Tony always asked about her everyday and wanted to see updates that were on her page. He thought it was so cool to see her skype into class and be with them those days. He made sure to tell me that she was able to go on that last field trip and was so happy to see her there. Ariana was a daily conversation in our household. She has inspired my family in so many different ways. She is the truly the strongest, most positive fighter ever. Her outlook on life at such a young age is amazing. I will never ever take anyday for granted and she has taught my son and I true life long lessons. Thank you for sharing her journey with us. She was loved by us all, will be missed dearly and has taught us so much about love and life.

Ariana has taught me so much about faith, positivity, and perseverance. I had been down about my own health issues and she made me realize that I needed to push through and focus on what I can do instead of what I can't. She made me realize to never take for granted healthy children and to rely on God to get me through whatever obstacles I face. She has really inspired me to pursue a stronger relationship God. Thank you for sharing her life with us, I am truly on a better path because of her.

My family did not have the privilege of knowing Ariana personally; however, her impact on us was significant. We became aware of her story soon after her diagnosis though mutual Meridian CHoG friends. We, including our New Castle, IN church family, have been praying for Ariana and your family every night since that time. Her wisdom, bravery and smile are beyond compare. Many days your posts and her words have spoken to my soul and challenged me to be a better Christian and a much more patient and understanding mommy. The set of images that taught me the most were those where she insisted that she continue with her schoolwork,field trips, etc. I cannot count the number of days that I was overwhelmed with work/life stress and her image would appear on my feed....pressing on toward the future no matter how great the pain was. What an amazing life lesson she taught me. Thank you for being willing to share her beautiful journey!!! Ariana will not be forgotten.

I heard of this little girl who was fighting cancer. She had a strong faith in God and was an amazing example to so many. At Christmas, we got some of our 1st grade students together and we came and sang Christmas carols to her. No matter the pain, it seemed like she had a smile that was so big. My 12 year old daughter and I began to follow her journey and pray for her daily. We continue to pray for you all still. We pray each morning, "God, let Your light shine through us by what by what we say and do." That's exactly what your daughter did.

I am so sorry for your loss, heaven gained a beautiful angel. I only knew of Ariana's story through my daughter attending Kitley Elementary. I was amazed at the strength, courage and wisdom that one young girl could hold. Your family has and continues to touch so many lives, waking faith in people that may have misplaced it. I never had the pleasure of meeting Ariana in person, but her Uncle Tim and Aunt Mindy are very special to me. Thanks to them, I feel like I did know Ariana, and I loved her so much. Ariana was a gift to this world. She was light and salt. She showed us what Faith, Hope and Love can look like. She understood the Grace and Beauty of Our Father at age 12 better than many will learn in a lifetime. If a 12 year old girl can handle the struggles that she did with such grace and gratitude and faith, then, surely I can do the same in whatever struggles come my way. The first time I heard about Ariana was when our daughter, Ally, came home and said little Ariana came into Mrs. Tejada's Spanish class and was so proud of her new dress. My favorite and most vivid memory of Ariana is when she walked down the aisle as flower girl at our Aunt Mindy and Uncle Tim's wedding. My cousin Sam was the Ring Bearer and accompanied her down a set of stairs that led to where the bride and groom were standing. Sam was slightly younger than she was, and I remember watching her help him down the steps, as he was only a toddler. Even though I didn't spent much time with Ariana, it seemed that she was always just that way -- kind, gentle, thinking of others before herself. It was so undeniably evident that she was a fighter, and that she loved until the very end. Although I can't imagine the unbearable pain of such a loss, I imagine her now dancing on golden streets, free from the earthly suffering that once confined her.

One of the things that impressed me about her wisdom is when you guys posted about a conversation you had about death. She explained that either way she wins. We, the families of The Compassionate Friends, send you our heartfelt condolences on Ariana's passing.
The Compassionate Friends is an international grief support group for parents, grandparents and siblings who have suffered the heartbreaking loss of a child. Our only mission is to provide comfort, hope and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or daughter, brother or sister, or grandchild, and to help others better assist the grieving family.
We meet monthly on the first Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 99 W. Main St, Greenwood, IN 46142 and on the third Thursday at the Faith Apostolic Church, 1212 E. 116th St., Carmel, IN 46032.
If and when you are ready to do so, please join us for either, or both, meetings.
