Arleen Wander Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2025.
Arleen Rose Wander of Winona passed away on February 13, 2025, in Rochester, Minnesota. She was born on October 19, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Boniface "Boni" and JoAnn (Gaida) Wander.

Arleen held various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was working on Oak Island, Minnesota, on Lake of the Woods from 1981 to 1985. Despite the long hours, she loved every moment of it. She had a passion for crafting, painting, and canvas-stitching, and she enjoyed playing backgammon and cribbage. Above all, she treasured time spent with her son, Dustin, and the many pets she cared for over the years.

She is survived by her son, Dustin; her beloved cat, Callie; her brother, Tim of Anoka; nieces Jenny and Amanda; nephews Travis, Kyle, and Andrew; her great-nieces, Carlie and Lyla; and her great nephews, Carter, Lincoln, Amaznic, Adriel and Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boni and JoAnn Wander; her sister, Cynthia (Wander) Hagstrom; and her great-niece, Hartley.

She loves her family and will miss you all.

Arleen's memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Oh Auntie, what can I say. I spent so much time with you growing up, staying with you was always my favorite thing. I still remember staying up so late playing all kinds of games - you were so good at all of them- laughing til we cried- watching Days of Our Lives - when Marlena was possessed and floating above her bed still haunts me lol- we always had so much fun together. When I was older, movies, lunches, a comedy show when I was finally 21 and you introduced me to your favorite Long Island Teas and I thought I was going to die after half of one . There are so many stories, I could go on and on. You were always there for me. I´m sorry life got so crazy and busy and I didn´t make time to visit after you moved. We get so wrapped up in our own lives sometimes and I regret that. I know these last several years were hard on you, so many health problems and so much pain. I hope you´re comfortable and happy and at peace now. Love you

I love you, Mom.
This really came out of nowhere, I wish we had time to recognize what was going on and to say goodbye. I am trying to keep things together. I know you did not want to go yet, but I hope you are finally free from all your pain and troubles. I'm sorry I could not do more for you and was hard to deal with. You were the best mother I could have asked for, thanks for putting up with me and raising me. I hope you are able to see Grandma and all the others and finally feel less lonely. I really miss you. I love you, Mom. I hope I get to see you again.
