Arnold A. "Arnie" Wiener, age 65 of Long Prairie, died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Long Prairie Hospital in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 18 at St. John Vianney Church in Round Prairie. Rev. Adam Portugal will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Arnie was the oldest of eight, born on March 15, 1943 in Melrose, Minnesota to Adolph and Helen (Welters) Wiener. He grew up on a farm near Padua and attended the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, Minnesota. On July 3, 1967 he was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Schmidt at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Padua. For 30 years Arnie co-owned and operated, with Mike Merten, Wiener-Merten Contracting Inc. in Sauk Centre. In 2007 he retired and during his semi-retirement he owned and operated A.W. Sales, servicing pools and spas.Arnie enjoyed deer and elk hunting and took annual elk hunting trips to Wyoming. Arnie had a great love for his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed tending to his sheep and his hobby farm. He was a shepherd at home and at church and he had a passionate love for our Lord Jesus Christ. Arnie was very dedicated to St. John Vianney Church and Academy, spending many hours volunteering and serving as church coordinator. He was a member of St. John Vianney Church in Round Prairie, the Holy Name Society, National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Association, the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, the National Federation of Independent Business, and the Sauk Centre Area Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marjorie Wiener of Long Prairie; children, Greg (Martha) Wiener of Sauk Centre, Michele (Paul) Ruegemer of Browerville, Jeff (Jenny) Wiener of Long Prairie, Chris (Beth) Wiener of Waseca, Pat (Kristy) Wiener of Osakis, Mike (Amber) Wiener of Long Prairie, Tim (Jen) Wiener of Albany, Maria (Mike) Ferschweiler of Foley, Theresa (Darik) Booth of St. Martin, and Jeremy Wiener of Long Prairie; 37 grandchildren; mother, Helen Wiener of Sauk Centre; siblings, Duane (Mary) Wiener of Cody, Wyoming, Loren (Joey) Wiener of Sauk Centre, Ann (Dino) Johnson of Clearwater, Cheryl Wiener of Champlin, Al (Anne) Wiener of Osakis, Rosemary (Merle) Lensing of Mounds View, and Steve Wiener of St. Louis Park. He was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Wiener. Serving as casket bearers will be his sons, Greg, Jeff, Chris, Pat, Mike, Tim, and Jeremy. Honorary bearers will be his daughters, Michele, Maria, and Theresa. Mass servers will be his grandsons, Anthony, Luke, Aaron, and Philip Ruegemer, Andrew, Brendan, and Mitchell Wiener.

10 years have passed since you left us. It still feels like only yesterday. I wish I could talk to you and hear your voice. I wish I could hug you tight and tell you how much I love you. I know you hold my babies in your arms in heaven. You are with my babies. Tell them I love them and do not forget about me. I love all three of you so much.
