ARTHUR CALLAS, 90

ART CALLAS, passed away at his home in Downey, CA on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Art was the youngest of fourteen children born to James and Christina Callas and is survived by his two sons Tim Callas, Tony Callas and his wife Edi, and his granddaughters Jennie Callas and Joanna Callas. Art was married to his wife, Pat, for 60 years until her passing in March 2011.

Art loved sports, especially USC Football and Angels Baseball and played semi-pro baseball after graduating from Huntington Park High School.

Art worked alongside his four brothers on the family ranches in Long Beach and Costa Mesa, CA growing carrots, turnips, cabbage and cauliflower well into the 1950's before trying his hand in owning a bakery, "Callas' Pastries". Before retiring in 1995 Art had a long run as a wine salesman.

Art and Pat were deeply in love with each other as if they were newlyweds and spent their retirement years together traveling, shopping and enjoying family and friends. Art was a kind man, a loving husband, a great father and grandfather. He will be missed.
