Arthur Cottee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2025.
Art passed away peacefully at his home in El Cajon, California, on July 31, 2025. He was born in San Diego and raised in National City, California, where he graduated from Sweetwater High School. While in high school, he played football and baseball.

In 1953, Art joined the Air Force, serving four years before being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. The first 18 months were spent in Okinawa. After his military service, he returned to San Diego and went on to retire after 37 years in the banking industry at Great Western (now owned by Chase).

In 1958, Art married Phyllis. They shared 67 wonderful years together, and in retirement, they lived a full and active life. They belonged to WalkAbout International, the Blazing Paddles Canoe Group, and the Antique Car Club of America, where they proudly displayed their cherished 1965 Ford Mustang convertible.

He enjoyed spending time with his old high school friends and many others he met along the way, especially while playing golf.

Art is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two daughters; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held on the day he is laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery, where he will receive full military honors.
