ARTHUR HUEY Obituary

Of Suttons Bay, MI. Known to his friends and family as ""Major' passed on at his home on March 7, 2003. Major formerly owned and operated the Leelanau Schools, Camp Leelanau for Boys and The Homestead. He was a former president of the Central U.S. Ski Association and V.P. of the U.S. Ski Association. He was a past district governor of Rotary and vice chair of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are his wife Helen; sons Richard of Marquette and Arthur of St. Louis; daughters Adelle McCall of Williamsville, NY and Sara Thompson of Southfield; sister Dorothy Huey Hull of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be on Friday, March 21, at 2 p.m. in the Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum, Traverse City. Memorials may be made to the Leelanau School, Camp Leelanau and Kohahna, or the Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.

Dear Major,

You likely do not remember me [although would my parents, Hal and Mary] as I was among thousands who passed this way through "Leelanau" which is the reason I write. The experience helped pave the way for me all through life for which I am and will be forever grateful. Thank you, sir.

As a side bar competing the circle, I am now a permanent resident at The Homestead. In other words, I'm back home and it feels great.
