Arthur A. Plante, Jr.

Arthur A. Plante, Jr., 79, of Acushnet passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family after a long battle with brain cancer. He was the beloved husband of Simone (Rock) Plante.

Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Arthur A. and Aurore (Page) Plante he was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Plante served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He later worked as an ironworker, photographer and computer programmer. Arthur was a member of the Acushnet Rifle Club, Cape Cod Pistol League and the Twin County Pistol League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Suzette Vermilya and her husband Tom; a son, Arthur J. Plante and his wife Laurie; grandchildren, Paige, Jordan, Kyle and Shane Vermilya, Zoe Plante, and Taylor and Nikolas Coelho; a sister, Lucille Allain and her husband Henry; a brother, Albert Plante and his wife Nancy; and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Jacob Vermilya and brother of the late Pauline Comeau, Anita Manny and Lillian Powers.

His visitation will be Thursday, September 14, 2017 5-8 pm in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. All other services are private.
