Ashley Lynne Godwin

Ashley Lynne Godwin, age 24, of Alabaster, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2019. She graduated from Shelby County High School, Class of 2013. She could out-fish anybody, any day and she was always singing. She also loved the going to the beach and playing with dogs. She also loved spending time with her family and fiancée, watching Alabama football, Birmingham Bulls hockey and NASCAR racing, #88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Ashley was the most kind, friendly, selfless and radiant person you could ever meet.
She was preceded in death by her by grandmothers, Pat "Nana Smith" and Sarah "Nanny" Helvie; and grandfather, "Papa Fred" Godwin. Left to treasure her memory are her parents, Teresa Whitfield (Rodney) and Fred Godwin (Paula); brothers, Joel Godwin and Kelby Godwin; four step-brothers; two step-sisters; grandfather, David Smith (Glenell); fiancée, Daniel Clinkscales; future in-laws, Scott and Cindy Clinkscales and Christopher Clinkscales; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Alabaster First United Methodist Church, with visitation to begin at 12:00 PM. A private graveside will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maylene. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
