Audrey Natalie Michaels

Audrey Michaels passed on October 5, 2023 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. As per her wishes, she was able to die at home. Audrey was born January 1, 1932 in New York City. The family lived in Brooklyn. Audrey was a proud graduate of Erasmus Hall High School and Brooklyn College, from which she graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Audrey married Herb Sanders in 1950. They subsequently divorced. She married Kenneth Michaels in 1966. Audrey enjoyed a lifelong love affair with books. Professionally, she worked at the Edison (NJ) Public Library and the Midlothian (VA) Public Library. Her specialty was recommending the right book to the right reader. In addition to her family, Audrey adored gardening, cats, and the beach. In 2000 Audrey and Ken moved to Virginia. She brought her platinum blonde "New York style" with her, and grew to love the South. Survivors include husband Kenneth Michaels, daughters Darcie Sanders (Lenny Karpel), Lisa Sanders (Chris Trahan), and Trish Ambrosio, grandchildren Ben Ambrosio (Jordan Castle), Ian Ambrosio (Emma Skidmore), Jeremy Ambrosio (Jodie Kim), Melanie Ambrosio, and Josh Karpel (Taylor Russi). Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Helen (Ostrove) Spencer, as well as son-in-law Eric Ambrosio and son-in-law Stefan Stawash.
