Audrey Nelson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 22, 2004.
Audrey Burningham Nelson 1930 ~ 2004  BOUNTIFUL - Audrey was born October 25th 1930 to Jim and Esther Burningham of Bountiful Utah.  She died September 20, 2004. Mom was raised and attended school in Bountiful and graduated from Davis high school. She attended the University of Utah. She married Doug Nelson and moved to Soda Springs, Idaho. Later divorced. After returning to Bountiful to live in 1974, mom worked for many years for Abbott Laboratories in Salt Lake City and retired in 1997. She enjoyed cooking and has an extensive collection of cook books; she enjoyed canning in the fall and had a gift in the art of arranging flowers. She loved music, Tony Bennett being her all-time favorite. Mom was an avid Jazz fan and was known to yell out "that's my Baby" every time Karl Malone would make a basket. Mom had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good joke even though she seldom got the joke and could never re-tell it. She is survived by her two sons Bob (Suzie), John, and daughter, Ann Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her son James Kirk Nelson. Audrey was a loving grandma to her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Lowell (Myrna) Burningham of Salt Lake City and Mark (Barbara) Burningham of Bountiful. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful caring friends. I'm very tired and I have to go home now... Graveside services will be held Friday, September 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 South 200 West. Friends may call at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to services.  Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.

Dear sweet Audrey,

Like many others, I always remember you in the kitchen, at Thanksgiving and Christmas, stirring a pot of giblet gravy (ugh) or pulling the stuffing out of the turkey (ugh). But you were so good at everything related to food and it always tasted so good...we knew we were never going to be disappointed.

And then there were those beer potatoes at Mueller Park. They have always been a family favorite. I can only wish I were known for something so special like you have been.

Like your younger brother, you had a great sense of humor and never lost it, in spite of tough times at the end. I always enjoyed your company and knew we would have a good time with lots of laughter.

Lowell and I will miss you very much and hope the day will come when we can all laugh together again.

Love,

Myrna

Audrey was always a delight. I had many opportunities to utilize her skills while we were both employees of Abbott Labs. She was helpful and always pleasant, even when it would have been easier to be grumpy. She will be missed by many.

I have fond memories of Audry when we worked together at Abbott Critical Care System in Salt Lake. I wish my condolences to her family.

I can not say and I will not say,

that Audrey is gone she is just away.

With a cherry smile and a wave of her hand, Audrey has wandered into the loving land.

Although we only met a couple of times, I am glad to have seen the humor you are known for. I only wish to have met you sooner, to have enjoyed all the fun things your kids talk about. Your family loves you and will miss you greatly.

Life is too short. Remember to spend time with the special people in your life. I wish we had more time together, but the memories I have I will cherish forever.
