Audrey SHEPPARD Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Aug. 19, 2015.
SHEPPARD, Audrey Anne
(Sgt., WAAF, WWII)
Daughter of Edward and Emily Harrison, born June 17, 1926, Carshalton, England, died peacefully on August 8, 2015, in Ottawa after a long and difficult illness. Survived by her beloved husband of 67 years Arnet John Sheppard; daughter Eloise (Stan Isbrandt); sons Arnet (Kate Wilson) and Adrian; grandchildren Christopher, Eric, Ruby and Finn; sisters Emily (Pearson) and Milly (Hill); and numerous nephews and nieces. Predeceased by brother Edward and sister Edna (Creak). As a child and teenager in South London, "Tilly" helped her dear father and elderly granddad raise a motherless family through the Depression and war years. Following service in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, Audrey married, emigrated, and created a new life and new opportunities for her family in Canada. She selflessly served others, especially the vulnerable, which included her special grandson, who was the light of her life. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of the Queensway Carleton Hospital and to everyone who provided services at home to Audrey during recent years. Donations in Audrey's memory may be made to the Clifford Bowey School Foundation, Ottawa.

What a beautiful photo of Audrey. It is just how I remember her in Braemar Avenue all those years ago. RIP Audrey xxx
