Augustine Lopez

 August “Augie” Lopez, 84, of Lansing, MI, went to the lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

August was born in Bannister, MI on August 28, 1937. The son of Benjamin and Maria Lopez, Augie proudly served his country in the United States Army and then went into the reserves. Augie worked 42 years at GM.

Our loving father wore his heart on his sleeve. August liked to listen to old country music and loved driving his truck. Once he learned how to use his smartphone he would look up history, music, old boats and his favorite country singers. He spoke three languages, English, Spanish and German. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He enjoyed going to the breakfast club with his buddies from the shop and his grandson. Augie taught his two sons, Michael and Chris, how to work on cars. A special thank you to Al, who always kept up with our loving dad. August was a brave man and a gentle soul.

Surviving to cherish his memories are his wife, Dolores of 55 years, his daughters Augustina and Theresa (Jermaine), his sons, Chris (Traci) and Michael (Petra), 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his siblings: Annie, Margaret, Ernie, Max, Jim and Bobby. August was preceded in death by his daughter, Nicole Lopez, his brother, Joe and sister, Janie.

In remembrance of August, in lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to St. Jude Children hospital or Cristo Rey Church in Lansing.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Cristo Rey Church, 201 W Miller Rd, Lansing, MI 48911 at 2:30pm with Rev Vincent Richardson officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Interment will be at Deepdale Memory Gardens, Lansing MI.
