Dear Mrs. Herlt, Steve, Carole and Kim,
When my dad told me about Mr. Herlt, so many wonderful memories came back to me about our families and the great times we shared....so hard to believe the years have passed so quickly. Mrs. Herlt, my mom loved you so much, and I know she took comfort knowing you were a part of our lives when she became ill. Please take care and know that my thoughts are with you.

Carole and family - I am so saddened to hear of this news. I have fond memories of the Herlt family not only as a teen, but also as a friend and neighbor after I had kids of my own. Staci and I were talking last night of that winter when it snowed in Greenville and George pulled her and Kelli on sleds behind his tractor - except Kelli's sled was connected, but Staci's wasn't - so when he took off, Kelli took off and Staci was left sitting there. We had to laugh! When they were done, they went inside by the fire to thaw their feet and had hot chocolate with Nana. Those are memories that are never forgotten. George had an impact over multiple generations and will be greatly missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Love,
Rhonda

I am so sad to hear of George's passing. Many of my fondest memories are because of George Herlt. I remember when you all moved to Greenville 40 years ago. Carole and I became fast friends and inseparable. Carole's family became mine and vice versa. We had great times and caused our parents some grief, but I was always welcomed back to the Herlt's home. I know how proud he was off all his kids and the joy the grandkids brought to him and Bernie. I know how much you all will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. All my love,
Den

Dear Mrs. Herlt, Steve, Carole & Kim,
While it has been many years since we last came together, I have very fond memories of the many fun times that we shared at your house, out by your pool and in Boy Scout Troop 322. The Herlt's, the Baum's and the Motley's shared many memorable occasions but none mean as much as the support that you gave our family after my mother passed away in 1971. Mr. Herlt had a tremendous impact on my life and his contributions to Boy Scouts lives on as I am now a Scoutmaster and my twin sons are working on their Eagle rank. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers and hope to see you in the future.
Love,

Dear Carole, Bernie, Kim, Steven & family,
Many many many of the memories of my life include the Herlts. Mr. Herlt (George) was the definition of father...when he said no, we knew not to ask again...and when he said yes...we knew better not to push any further. He (& Bernie) allowed Carole & me to drive the LeMans from Greenville to Seattle when we were barely 18 and although I KNOW he wasn't in favor of the trip, still...he planned our entire route.
Because of dads like George Herlt, we lived "The Wonder Years".
I know how deeply he will be missed by his family and friends. I pray for God's comfort and strength for each of you.
Carole, I love you, miss you and think of you often.

My sincere condolences to Mrs. Herlt, Steve, Carole, Kim, and the rest of the family over George's passing. I remember him as a wonderful scout leader who was so active at the local camporees and scouting aquatic events. It was men like him that made the memorable scouting experiences of my youth possible. The passing of George and the late Ed Bloom and George Beal have caused me to reflect the more upon the Greenville men in the 70's that were so crucial to the success of the scouting movement in the Greenville area. May God give repose to his soul and comfort to his family.
