Barbara Abshire Obituary
She was born in York, Alabama and lived in Moss Bluff. Barbara was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Westlake High School and received her Master's degree in education from McNeese State University. She retired from the Louisiana State Department of Education where she worked as a Research Analyst.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Abshire of Moss Bluff; son, Gavin Abshire and wife, Michelle of Moss Bluff; and grandchildren, David Abshire, Leah Abshire and Joy Abshire. She was preceded in death by her son, Lance.
Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015 from 5pm-9pm and will resume on Tuesday from 8am until service time at noon at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. Burial will be at Westlake Memorial Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.

I am so saddened to hear of Mrs. Abshire's passing. I will always remember my fun times with you, Sabrina at your parents home in Westlake. Your mother was so beautiful. Thoughts and prayers for you and Gavin during this difficult time.

Sabrina and Gavin and family,
I am so saddened to hear of your mom's passing. She and I had such good times together when we worked at the Department of Education! I think we went out to eat together almost every night...and we always had a glass of wine (or two) to celebrate making it through the day!! She was a dear friend and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
