PLATTSBURGH - Mrs. Barbara A. Jabaut, 72, of Bea's Way, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lyon Mountain on Nov. 1, 1934, daughter of the late Leonard and Julia (Gregory) Cayea and her stepfather, Lawrence Cayea.
Barbara was a day care provider for over 30 years and was known to her "kids" as "Aunt Barb." She was a member of the Blue Star Mothers and St. Peter's Church. Barbara was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her beloved cat and companion, Max.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald Jabaut, whom she married on July 10, 1954, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh; four children and their spouses, Gregory W. "Bucky" and Beverly Jabaut, Pam and Richard "Mo" Morrison, Julie and Jim Rose, Craig and Heather Jabaut, all of Plattsburgh; three brothers and their spouses, Terry and Peggy Cayea, Larry and Sharon Cayea, Gary and his wife Martha, all of Ellenburg; two sisters, Wanda and her husband David Pallani of Rochester, Debbie and her husband Doug Grogan of Ellenburg; two grandsons, Eric and his wife Erica of Illinois, Josh of Plattsburgh; a great-granddaughter, Hailey of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by one brother, Leonard "Joe" Cayea.
Calling hours will be private and at the convenience of the family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center or Hospice of the North Country.
Arrangements are with the Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court St., Plattsburgh.
