SOUTH YARMOUTH — Barbara (Chace) Parkins, 79, of South Yarmouth died September 9, 2010. She was the mother of Robert Parkins of Westminster, Colo., Douglas Parkins of Mountville, Pa., Steven Parkins of Aventura, Fla., and Sandra Barker of Dayton, Ohio. Sister of Joan Hallberg of Burlington and the late Richard and James Chace. Also survived by 7 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 12 at 1 p.m. at Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main Street in Harwich center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 370, Hyannis, MA 02601 C/O Davenport-Mugar Cancer Center.

I first saw her on the screen when I was 16 years old, I am now 74 and I used to wish that I looked like her. Her role in the Valley of the dolls was not a particularly strong part and it’s a shame because she should’ve walked off with the whole movie in her hands. Her beauty on the screen or was Something you didn’t want to miss, and I was an impressionistic young woman. When they were grooming her for the so-called modeling world in the movie, I thought I’d never seen a more beautiful face. She was like a gorgeous sculpted statue from the Grecian days.
I know she has found her place in heaven with the angels. God rest her soul.

I watched beautiful Barbara on Peyton Place and I was in such awe of her. I am so very sad to hear that she had to leave us. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. I was just thinking of her recently. RIP❤

Barbara was a beautiful actress that I watched growing up on Peyton Place. My deepest sympathies go out to her family. I just looked her up and that’s when I found out that she is no longer with us. Very sad. RIP Barbara❤❤
