Barbara Peel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2025.
Barbara Ann Peel, 91, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Barbara was born in the Bronx, New York, and grew up in New York City. After high school, she worked at Illinois Central, where she met her beloved husband, James ("Jimmy"). After their marriage, Barbara and Jimmy moved to New Jersey, where they raised six children.

Barbara cherished her role as a homemaker and often commented on how much she loved her babies. She took pride in caring for her family and creating a warm and loving home. She returned to work as a respected office manager at American Medical Products and the Department of Transportation before retiring to Ormond Beach.

She lived a life full of simple joys-vacationing at Kirk Lake during her childhood, and always reading, reading, reading! She made frequent trips to the library, often with a grandchild by her side. Barbara was an avid fan of Gone with the Wind. and enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, and trips to the casinos. She was a devoted fan of The Young and the Restless and rarely missed her "stories." Barbara cherished her family and always found special joy in her "babies"

Barbara will be fondly remembered for her sharp sense of humor, which brought laughter to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, her eldest daughter, Barbara ("Roni") Boote (Bob), her sisters Dorothea and Patricia, and her brother Michael. She is survived by her three sons, Timothy, James, and Daniel; her daughters, Sue Gallico and Mary Travers (Stephen); her brothers John Kuhn (Elaine) and Gerald Kuhn (Aihan); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Barbara's warmth, love, and wit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

The family will share details about a gathering to celebrate the life of Barbara at a later time.

Barbara's smile could light up a room. Her good humor was always on display. Always looking for the brighter side in any situation. Full of love for everyone. The perfect foil to her funny husband Jimmy. So many happy times with the two of them. I will miss my sweet sister. Love to all. Gerry
