Benjamin Sharpe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 29, 2023.
Benjamin Sharpe, 36, passed away at his home in Perry, FL on July 24, 2023. Ben was born and raised in Ocala, FL. He graduated from West Port High School where he was an active member of the FFA. He loved everything about computers and video games, and his dream was to restore his 1998 Ford Contour SVT. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed a good BBQ, and loved being around family and friends.

Ben moved to Perry in 2014, and was employed by the FL Department of Corrections where he worked as a Correctional Officer at the Taylor Correctional Institution.

Ben is survived by his wife of 12 years, Stephanie, his daughters Mackenzie (11) and Madeline (9), and his sons Alexander (7) and Maxwell (3). He is also survived by his mother, Donna (David Miller), father Daniel Sharpe, sister Rebecca, brother Samuel (Pammy), grandfather Willie Hamilton, his uncle Mike Hamilton (Shelly), cousins Ashley (Nate Thomas), and Tyler Hamilton (Susie), along with a large extended paternal family.

Ben was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bobbie Hamilton, and his paternal grandparents, Anne and Joseph Sharpe.

And even though Ben never met a stranger, he was fortunate to have a group of people he considered life-long friends.

His cremation was handled by ICS Cremation and Funeral Home in Lake City, FL.

There will be a celebration of his life held at a later date.

I don't know, 3
Benjamin. I learned of this tragedy from a Captian at the facility, and I felt compelled to make a comment. I pray, especially for those left behind to deal with this tragic situation. May God guide you and give you strength from this day forward. Eternal rest onto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him, Amen.

Sharpe was a good friend and i will miss him dearly, i've known him for quite awhile and he always managed to make me smile. He was very caring and a gentle soul, may he be at peace and may his family find the same in these trying times.

My heart is broken for Ben's wife, children, siblings, parents and grandparents. I'm praying for comfort, peace and understanding while everyone adjusts to his loss. I considered him a nephew rather than cousin by marriage. My children grew up with him and his siblings. We have so many fond memories. I'm so sad to know he is no longer with us and praying for peaceful rest for him.

Sharp was a quiet but loud spark in life. We would talk daily about everything from cracks in the glass to clouds in the sky, the knuckleheads that we meet in life. Although we didn´t know each other for long, I will consider him a co-worker and most of all friend . I will miss him and pray for all of his family!
