BERNADINE N. GORDON, 89, of Bel Air, Md., died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Esther Marsh and Lynn Mitchell. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Susan (Dean) Larsen of Bel AIr, Md., Karen (Barry) Rehbein of Lake Placid, Fla., David (Virginia) Cunningham of Fort Wayne, and Michael (Margaret) Cunningham of Hollywood, Fla; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Ellingwood of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gordon. Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials to donor's choice.

To the family of Bernie, You have my deepest sympathy, In the passing of my dear friend. We have shared memorable hours talking and laughing on the phone. When Susan and Dean had important business, I would take her to her doctor appointments, We met one Sunday, Some years ago at Church. And we were friends forever. I often prayed with her, When her spirits were low. She could call me 24/7 .. She was my Mom, my Friend. I think I know more about her than her children, Because she shared with me things of her past before they were born :) I was her confidante, And Boy! could she talk, One day we talked for two hours and twenty minutes, She was very articulate, And sharp. She was absolutely amazing
I will cherish the Memories we shared

I have been a friend of Mrs. Gordon and her husband for many years. They were related to Art Smith - a pioneer aviator - and contributed several memorabilia items to the Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum - of which I am the curator. Bernadine was also known for her writings of Art Smith. Beautiful memories of a great couple, who now rest together in Heaven.
